August CISO Forum Pittsburgh 2013 |
![]() Theme: The Human Effect Date: August 8-9, 2013 Location: Pittsburgh, PA Overview: Even the best designed, best implemented and best managed security programs can meet with cultural resistance and/or catastrophic control failures. In many cases, these breakdowns can be traced to a lack of acceptance of security by the very people we are trying to protect. As a profession, we have continued to struggle with minimizing resistance to security changes as we integrate our programs into the organizational culture. Please join us in Pittsburgh, August 8-9th, as we bring industry and academic professionals together to exchange ideas and discuss strategies on how to better influence your cultures and make your programs more successful. CEOs expect the amount of change in their organizations to continue to increase, yet they recognize that their teams’ capacity to manage the escalating volume of change is not keeping pace according to IBM’s Global CEO study. While organizations are marginally improving their capacity and skills to effectively manage change, the volume, complexity, and magnitude of the changes to be absorbed are increasing at an unprecedented pace. In fact, most companies continue to struggle to manage change in support of large-scale projects, let alone build change capability throughout their organization. Making matters worse, three-fourths of organizations surveyed by Prosci in 2012 are reporting that they are near or at the point of change saturation. This saturation dynamic, combined with the volume and speed of change, is resulting in employee disengagement and resistance. Worse yet, as employees disengage, we are seeing a corresponding increase in project failures and an overall decrease in organizational productivity. Agile, innovative, responsive,
nimble, creative, flexible – these are the words that define the organizations
that will succeed in today’s business environment. Those organizations that
successfully weave change capability into the fiber of their organization will
develop a competitive advantage in the markets in which they operate. |
