ISSA has many opportunities for members to support international committees. Volunteers are always welcome and needed to keep these programs going and provide guidance for continuous improvement.
ISSA International Annual Awards Committee
The ISSA International Awards Program annually recognizes individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to ISSA and/or the information security profession.
The Association appoints an independent review committee reporting to the Director of Operations, Secretary, and the President. The committee will identify, evaluate, and prepare recommendations for ISSA International’s recognition of these nominees.
Members in good standing are needed to participate in the Awards Committee, to help develop and review awards program and nominations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to identifying and soliciting candidates, validation of criteria for all nominees, evaluation, and selection of final candidates to recommend to the ISSA International Board of Directors.
The ISSA International Fellows Program Committee
The ISSA Fellows Program formally recognizes significant contributions to the cyber community, cyber profession, ISSA leadership and sustained ISSA membership.
The Fellows Program committee reviews applications for Senior Members, Fellows, and Distinguished Fellows
ISSA Fellows and Distinguished fellows are needed to review applications for Senior Member, Fellow, and Distinguished Fellow designations.
The ISSA International Election Committee
The ISSA International Election Committee is responsible for overseeing the election process making sure that procedures and guidelines are adhered to, to ensure an ethical and reliable election occurs.
Members are needed to work with ISSA International management team to help with the process, acceptance, and review of nominees and oversight to ensure all procedures and guidelines are adhered to as outlined in the ISSA International bylaws.
ISSA International Ethics Committee
The Ethics Committee provides guidance on ethical behavior for Information System Security professionals, develops and maintains guidelines for ethics relating to Information Security practices. Committee duties are handled in a team-orientated approach, taking into account that this volunteer group has other primary commitments that result in time availability is variable. Therefore, the group freely passes along work-in-progress between members, as their time availability dictates, while still meeting our goals in a timely manner.
ISSA Volunteers are needed to sit on the committee to review ethical complaints, review, and update guidelines as necessary, in accordance with the policy and procedures of the ISSA International Bylaws. There is a one-hour monthly conference call, at a mutually acceptable date/time to the other committee members.
Editorial Advisory Board
The Editorial Advisory Board conducts editorial review of summited articles to the ISSA Journal, provides input into content areas and processes, and steers the overall direction and strategy of the journal.
