The prolific outburst of IoT devices in our lives has become a boon or a curse. Boon as they make it easy to interact with "Things" and Curse as they make it easy for hackers to invade our privacy and breach security.

Implementing Security in IoT devices is still after thought.This webinar looks at the challenges of securing IoT devices against threats and discusses about the options available to secure these devices.


Hari Pendyala, ISSA Fellow and Member, Chennai, Asia Pacific Chapter


Hari M. Pendyala is an ISSA Fellow and has been member of ISSA since 2004. He is currently working as COO for 7inQ, a private incubator with IoT and Information Security as thrust areas; He has 22+ years of experience in Information Technology with 17+ years of detailed work in the field of Information Security. He is a CISSP, CISM and ITIL v3 certified professional.

Hari is currently serving in Management Committee of ITAAP; IT Association of Andhra Pradesh, India. Hari has served as board member for Silicon Valley ISSA, holding various roles from 2004 till 2009. He thoroughly enjoys teaching and mentoring K-8 kids about Robotics and other science topics.

Hari has Master’s in Computer Engineering from Florida Atlantic University, Florida and Bachelor's in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from S.V. University, Tirupati, India.


Srinisvasa Moorthy

Srinivasa Moorthy is an electronics engineer with more than 3 decades of experience in Embedded System Design in various domains like Telecom, Networking, Medical Devices, Avionics and Automotive. He has developed successful products and built multiple design team in these domains. Apart from multiple engineering roles, he took up the challenging role of CEO of AP Electronics and IT agency for the new state of Andhra Pradesh and set up the organization from scratch. Currently helping group of companies in Biometrics and IoT area in their product and solution development with a special focus on IoT Security. Currently developing a multipurpose secured Embedded IoT Platform to address the quick time to market. Moorthy is also a teacher and has been teaching Embedded System Architecture and Electronics Packaging for Graduate and under graduate students of Product Design Student of Indian Institute of Information Technology for Design and Manufacturing.


Chris Rouland, Phosphorous

Chris Rouland is a 25-year veteran of the information security industry and a valued member of the information security community. Chris has founded several companies focused on providing cyber security to Fortune 500 corporations and government establishments earning him the distinction of one of Atlanta’s most respected technology entrepreneurs.

In 2016 Chris founded Phosphorus. The Phosphorus team has been tackling the most difficult problems in Enterprise security for over 20 years. As IOT proliferates in the Enterprise, SMB and Consumer markets, the tool chains that are taken for granted in enterprise security do not yet exist in this new, agent-less environment. Phosphorus is building solutions to help secure the unmanaged, un-patched and misconfigured devices proliferating all parts of our lives.

In 2013 Chris founded Bastille, the only company focused exclusively on providing intrusion detection and vulnerability assessment for the Internet of Things (IoT). Chris took Bastille alone from his garage, to a team of over 40 engineers (including 5 DARPA challenge winners) and a world class management team, in addition to creating over a dozen patents on the IP. To date, Bastille has raised over $37MM in Angel funding and top tier VC.

In 2008, Chris founded Endgame, leader in cyber security and defense for the government sector. In just three years, he grew the company from his basement to more than $10 million in revenue and nearly 100 employees. Chris also raised over $58 million in venture capital. His innovation and leadership combined with Endgame’s rapid growth awarded him the Metro Atlanta Chamber’s Business Person of the Year in 2011.

Prior to founding Endgame, Chris served as chief technology officer at Internet Security Systems Inc and built the X-Force. In 2006, IBM Corp. purchased ISS, where Chris remained CTO and was appointed an IBM Distinguished Engineer. Rouland holds a dozen patents in Cyber Security.

Matthew Crouse, Taco Bell

Matt Crouse is the Director of Information Security for Taco Bell, where he is responsible for driving and delivering cybersecurity services for over 7,000 restaurants worldwide. In his role, Crouse leads the company’s efforts to design, deliver, and operate programs to reduce technology risk at the restaurant, above-store, and franchisee levels, as well as compliance with industry regulations such as PCI. He has extensive experience building and maintaining security and compliance programs for both public and private companies and has a substantial track record in PCI, SOX, and developing cybersecurity capability for retail organizations. Prior to Taco Bell, Crouse built the information security and compliance function at Lucky Brand, where he was responsible for all cybersecurity and compliance efforts to cover traditional retail and e-commerce channels. Earlier in his career, Crouse held various technology roles at Smart & Final, a warehouse-style grocer, where he worked extensively in PCI/SOX compliance, information security, quality assurance, and general IT controls.
